First of all here is a Shellac manicure...it looks beautiful.

But what options do you have if you wanted more than just classic painted nails?

You can choose to have a full glitter nail. Featured here is an iridescent glitter that is pink but has changed to blue because it is applied over black shellac. Different glitters have different effects - ranging from translucent to vivid. So your choice is limitless.

If having the entire nail covered with glitter isn't your ideal, then you can have a glitter fade. Glitter is applied to the base or tip of the nail and blended. Here the client chose a Multiglitz glitter - this has different sized particles to add texture to the effect

Glitters don't have to be glittery!

This glitter is Lecente Stardust and

is a very fine powder glitter. This is perfect for a glitter ombre effect.

Stardust glitter can also be applied

to the full nail. It is perfect for

adding a hint of shimmer to your manicure if you don't want intense sparkle.

Who says all nails need to match?

Be as individual as you want! Why

not have a different colour

for each nail

Different colour glitters can be blended together to form an ombre effect on a full coverage nail. Here Pink and Purple Fireworks glitters were blended together.

You don't have to have glitter on all

nails. Give your manicure a feature

nail that sparkles. This works really

well with Lecente Super Holographic glitters.

You can have a glitter fade blended into a full nail glitter. Using a bold miltiglitz glitter will make the glitter fade stand out and look amazing against the full nail glitter.

If full coverage glitter is what you

want, but you want to tone down

the sparkle a little, then have a

'Shellac Sandwich'. Glitter is placed between coats of shellac to give

it an encapsulated appearance.

You don't have to limit yourself to just one glitter. Here are 3! Two chunky glitters on the base of the nail then a fine holographic glitter mixed with gel over the top to give extra encapsulated sparkle!

A stamped image is very simple

nail art. Here a leaf pattern was stamped and flower buds were

added with a dotting tool to

givethe manicure individuality

Glitter can also be used after applying

a stamped image with standard polish. The glitter sticks to the shellac, but cannot stick to the standard polish - leaving the design clear and featuring

a glitter background

Glitter can be used on top of a stamped image if the image is stamped with Shellac after a no wipe top coat is applied. The stamped Shellac is sticky and so the glitter will cling to the image.

Glitter can also be used with foil.

Here foil was applied to the nail a

long with a glitter fade. This adds different textures to the nail creating intense metallic sparkle

Foil is applied over the Shellac surface. Ideal for giving a

textured metallic look to

a feature nail.

Foil doesn't have to applied over

the whole nail. it looks wonderful

as a fade effect too.

Foils can be combined. Here

two shades of silver - a bright

silver and a gunmetal silver was dabbed over the grey Shellac.

Foil also works brilliantly with a

Shellac sandwich. A foil layer encapsulated between two coats

of sheer shellac gives a beautiful jeweled look.

Glitter can also be added to the

Shellac foil Sandwich to give

added sparkle and texture.

Swarvoski gems make an appearance here along with glitter nails. Combining different elements while keeping a coordinated look is a great way to create a stunning manicure

Gems and striping tape add a glamorous and elegant

finish to any manicure

Chromes add a metallic sheen

to nails and can be used to complement colours or contrast

with them.

Chromes come in many

different finishes, giving you so much choice. Here is the

rainbow Holographic chrome

over Lilac Gel Polish.

Chrome powder was used here

over foil and glitter to add a

pearly sheen to the sparkle effects

Chromes can be added with

stamping details as the chrome

powder does not stick to

standard polish.

You can even stamp with chrome powder - giving a subtle delicate image to compliment the manicure.

Pigment powder were used here to

add a pink ombre to a lilac nail which was then covered in iridescent glitter to add an amazing sparkle without covering over the nail colour.
